Comebacks from three goals down involving West Ham United
|
After the 3-3 today and the squandering of a three goal lead, this is a thread to reminisce on other comebacks from three down involving West ham, both by us and against us.
Other ones that spring to mind to me are:
West Ham 3-4 West Brom. 2003 I think. We were 3-0 and Defoe was sent off. We went on to lose 3-4.
West Ham 3-4 Wimbledon. Another 3-4 defeat from 3-0 up! Mid 1990s I think? Jason Euell?
West Brom 3-3 West Ham. 2011. Scott Parker half time team talk under the clueless Grant, and the introduction of Demba Ba.
Any others?

Not quitter a three up but a fuck up all the same. Weren't we 2-0 up against Everton when we got a penalty and because Kitson was on a hat trick he took it, missed and Everton grabbed a 2-2 draw? Seem to remember Harry wasn't happy!

Yes, I remember the two Stoke games. 3-0 up and lost 4-3, then - I thought it was the following year but I defer to AOI that it was 2 years later - 3-0 up and drawing 3-3, but I think Stoke hit the bar in the final moments.

I was at that game too, along with just a few hundred others. A Patsy Holland last minute equaliser from Gino's cross. We went fucking mental. A mates bird had come with us and she couldn't get over our reaction.

Co-incidentally I saw some old footage on youtube of West Ham being 3 up against Stoke at half time in the 1960's and conceding 4 in the second half. Must admit it crossed my mind when Arsenal got one back before half time today.

I remember going back to 1967 a game against Stoke,3-0 up at half time and then losing 3-4. There is some footage of the game on YouTube, commentator Hugh johns.

I remember us coming back from 3 - 0 down to Leicester, around 75/76 possibly.

Throughout the West Brom gameI was texting a mate who was in the West Brom end. He was from Kent but had started supporting WB in the 70s. He never replied until the end and he sent the text “ he who laughs last..”

The West Brom game, I took my two boys, expecting a big performance from Defoe and he got himself sent off. From memory the lad that scored the hat trick for West Brom ended up in nick
